Set the mower on its dock and let it charge fully before doing anything else, which usually takes 45 to 90 minutes but can run longer after a deep sleep. If nothing happens at all, clean the charging contacts first, then confirm the base has power. Step 3: Check the Boundary Wire and Base Station

Frost heave, dogs, and aeration spikes are hard on a pegged boundary wire over winter. Walk the whole perimeter and press any lifted sections back down, watching for breaks, chew marks, or spots where the ground pushed the wire up. If your base shows a wire fault light, a break is the usual cause, and a waterproof connector fixes most. Wipe the charging contacts on both the mower and the dock until the metal shines, since a thin film of oxidation is the top reason a machine will not dock or charge in spring. Confirm the base sits level and firmly pegged.

Never Bench-Test Blades Spinning: When you check the underside, keep your hands well clear of the blades and make sure the machine is fully powered down before touching anything near them. Lift sensors are fast, but they are not a substitute for common sense. Do all cleaning and inspection with the mower off and, where possible, the battery isolated per your manual.

Step 4: Update Firmware and Review the App Settings

Once the mower powers up and connects, open the app and let it reconnect to your WiFi, since routers and passwords sometimes changed over winter. Check for a firmware update and install it while the machine sits safely on the dock, because updates often carry navigation and safety improvements from the off-season. Review your schedule too. Spring grass grows fast, so you may want more frequent runs than your late-autumn settings allowed. Reset any rain-delay or seasonal-height preferences you tweaked last fall. Then start with a lighter schedule and build up as growth accelerates.
