Measure the cable length before you commit, since stretching it taut across a walkway is both ugly and a tripping risk. Route the low-voltage cable along a lawn edge and peg it flat, or tuck it under mulch, so nobody catches a foot on it and no mower wheel drags it loose. Plan the run so the power supply itself stays sheltered and off the ground where possible.
Favor Shade to Protect the Battery
Lithium-ion batteries dislike heat, and a dock baking in full afternoon sun makes the mower charge and rest in the hottest spot in the yard all season. A position in light or dappled shade, under a tree canopy or against a north-facing wall, keeps temperatures friendlier and helps the battery hold its capacity for longer. Avoid deep, permanent shade only if it also stays damp, since a constantly wet dock invites corrosion on the contacts. Where the dock sits also shapes how the setup looks and how safe the mower is. At the same time, you want to glance out a window and see whether the mower is home, so a spot with a clear line of sight from the house is handy.
